4 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (Oct 4)

3. Big-Time Match Falls Flat

After booking (on the fly) a first-time match (in WWE) between Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair on the same night on free TV, they had to deliver a barnburner, right?

Nope.

Flair and Belair had a match that was overshadowed by Becky Lynch on commentary. It wasn’t bad by any stretch, but it really felt like they were lethargically going through the motions at times, with minimal drama – and the crowd reaction (or lack thereof) evidenced that.

All of it was leading up to the climax, when Belair hit the KOD on Charlotte, only for Lynch to pull Bianca out for the DQ. A subpar match ending in a DQ was the perfect way to cap off what should have been a PPV main event for a title being booked on the fly for nothing.

Another example of WWE’s woes in 2021.
