This could easily be a “down” too, but Monday was the first time WWE acknowledged a COVID-19 positive wrestler on TV, as Drew McIntyre disclosed in a direct-to-camera video that he had tested positive.

McIntyre, the WWE Champion, noted that he was asymptomatic, and then urged fans to not take the virus lightly. He said that if he could catch it, anyone could, and then told fans to wear masks and social distance, noting that it’s not just for their safety, but other others and their loved ones as well.

As much criticism as we’ve given WWE for holding these events and hiding positive test results, we should give kudos to putting their world champion – arguably the biggest star on Raw – on TV to deliver a straightforward message about being responsible.

It looks like McIntyre’s planned Royal Rumble match against Goldberg, still three weeks away, can be salvaged. Either way, here’s hoping McIntyre bounces back and is on Raw again soon.
