4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (18 May - Results & Review)

Kyle O'Reilly Lee Moriarty
AEW

It says everything for Kyle O'Reilly vs. Lee Moriarty that their match could've been on Dynamite as a featured attraction and killed it on the flagship. Instead of being upset about being punted to the 'C' show, both guys put in a right shift and visibly had a blast knocking lumps out of one another.

Personally, this writer loves seeing Kyle wrestle. His matches always have a lot going on, but it's rarely overkill in the sense of a Bucks-style sprint of spots. Some of the exchanges between O'Reilly and Moriarty were something to behold. Nigel McGuinness was audibly impressed by what he was seeing from behind the commentary desk.

No wonder.

Now, if only AEW would actually do something beyond random matches with Lee. That's wishful thinking, but he deserves the chance to develop some sort of proper character (this Shane Taylor Promotions thing ain't it) and wrestle with purpose rather than in spite of Tony Khan's apathy.

Awesome to see Kyle get the win ahead of his match vs. Malakai Black on Wednesday though.
