4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 27)

2. More PPV Matches?!

Darby Allin

Tony Khan is understandably excited about the $1.1m gate Double Or Nothing has already earned via ticket sales, but he must be taken to task for adding another two bouts to the pay-per-view on Rampage. Neither Darby Allin vs. Kyle O'Reilly nor the six-person tag with TNT Title stips were particularly necessary.

Now, DoN has 12 matches on the main card. Add in the pre-show scrap pitting Hookhausen vs. Tony Nese/Mark Sterling and you get an unlucky 13. Christ, Tony, do you think that's enough?! Yours truly has expressed worries that Double Or Nothing will feel like an AEW version of WWE's bloated WrestleMania shows, and it looks like that's going to happen.

13 matches on the night is at least 3-4 too many.

Do the likes of Darby, Sammy Guevara and Scorpio Sky deserve to be on the biggest pay-per-view of the year. Sure, but only if they've got rivalries that merit such a lofty spot. One cannot say that about Allin's secondary scuffle with O'Reilly or the six-person tag.
