4 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 25)

1. An Excellent Main Event

Naomi Charlotte

Charlotte pinned SmackDown Women's Champion Naomi to earn this week's shot at the gold, and while the previous match didn't exactly impress, last night's was a complete success. Not only was it the best match on the show, but it was likely the most impressive singles performance of Naomi's WWE career, and it didn't feel like she was being carried at all.

While Charlotte has become the most complete women's performer in the company, Naomi's lack of in-ring seasoning often shines through in environments like this. That wasn't the case last night, however, as her elite athleticism made her a great foil for Charlotte's more grounded style, and if they're ever given the chance to wrestle on pay-per-view, SmackDown's main event suggests they'll knock it out of the park.

The match ended when Carmella, Tamina, and Natalya hit the ring and attacked Charlotte, before turning their focus on Naomi when she attempted to save her opponent. As a result, it looks like we're heading towards a 3-on-3 faction war, with the heels picking on Becky Lynch earlier in the evening. A moderate disappointment, as the past few months have seen SmackDown become increasingly lazy in the way they just throw all their female talent on-screen at once, but it should at least lead to a fun match.
