4 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (24 May - Results & Review)

1. The Closing Pull Apart

Mercedes Mone Willow Nightingale
AEW

Post-match, Mercedes Mone kicked off her shoes and hit the ring to brawl with Willow Nightingale. Sure, there were some last-minute, 'Oh sh*t we have a PPV this weekend' vibes to the fight, but at least it happened. Mone's arrival in AEW hasn't made a dent thus far, and yet seeing her on Rampage still felt higher profile than most 'go home' segments the show ever has to offer.

They were throwing potatoes out there too.

Credit to Matt Menard on comms for suggesting that security had to keep Willow and Mercedes apart otherwise a key title match for Double Or Nothing could be in jeopardy. 'Daddy Magic' might be fairly new to the announce game, but he's often the one to highlight the things that need highlighting, and his timing is excellent.

Next stop: Mone surely winning the TBS Title. Mercedes strutted around the ring holding Willow's belt aloft before tossing it back to her and yelling, "Sunday". Simple booking here, and that's why it clicked. AEW didn't ask these ladies to go back and forth on the mic for 15 minutes - they just hammered away at one another then got separated.

For now!
