4 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 28)

1. The Whole Story Of The Headliner

Cash Wheeler Jay Lethal
AEW

Younger wrestlers tuning into AEW programming would be wise to pay attention to the pacing of Cash Wheeler vs. Jay Lethal. The pair didn't go hell for leather and whizz, bang or crash through a string of spots without selling. No, they kept things simple, then brought things to a boil just in time for the finish.

That's good work.

Besides, the duo had a story to tell with all their friends around ringside. Mark Briscoe was installed as the "Special Enforcer" sandwiched between FTR and Lethal/Jeff Jarrett/Sonjay Dutt/Satnam Singh, and he played a part in the closing stretch. Dutt slid in to distract the ref, then Lethal shoved Wheeler into Briscoe to send him tumbling off the ring apron.

The plot thickens, because that accidental bump will come up in conversation over the next few weeks. FTR vs. Lethal and Jarrett will be a fine AEW Tag-Team Title showing, and there's enough to the story of Briscoe being caught in the middle to make it worth paying attention to.
