4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 20)

2. The Freaks Come Out At Night

Seth Rollins Blood Bath

Behold the first "blood bath" on WWE television in a long time. There's a reason that was put in inverted commas though - the substance they used looked more like black tar or goo than blood. It was black, for crying out loud. Gangrel and the boys definitely used a bright red mix back in ye olden times.

Oh well, it still made for a cool visual.

Besides, there's more to this tale than cheeky pranks. Edge is having to dip into his darker past to top Seth Rollins, and Rollins has made it clear that he doesn't think the comeback king can do it. This proved otherwise, shut the heel up in the process and provided a memorable moment WWE can link back to for years.

There aren't enough of those these days.

Yes, the fact that Seth wore a white suit made it rather obvious what was coming next, but the whole skit worked. Edge and Rollins are tearing it up on the mic, and they're sure to have a corker of a match come SummerSlam.
