4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 29 - Results & Review)
1. A Rare ‘L’ For The Grayson Waller Effect
It wasn't Grayson Waller's fault!
Bobby Lashley is hardly the most engaging speaker at the best of times. Toss in a totally unwanted tension story with The Street Profits and you had one heck of a stilted in-ring promo skit. His doubts about Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have come way to soon in the story after everyone seemed to be on the same page.
There's no cash in the bank with fans to make this feel weighty or meaningful. Everything about the narrative of Bobby side-eyeing The Profits is rushed, and their beatdown of the LWO later in the program gave off those same vibes. So they're all buddy buddy again?
Questions must be asked about creative's thinking here. Why bother burning through this sort of story this early into the union when it'll be relied upon later when the group inevitably splits? This writer had high hopes for Lashley and the boys, but their alliance is already on shaky ground.
