4 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 2)

4. 50/50 Garbage Booking

Ruby Soho Ortiz
AEW

50/50 booking has been a persistent fan bitch about WWE programming for the longest time, but it's something Tony Khan has been able to avoid (for the most part) over on the AEW side. Those days, it seems, are over though. Mr. Khan has fallen into the time-killing trap.

Ruby Soho and Ortiz vs. Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara II is proof of that.

There was no reason to run this mixed tag match back on consecutive weeks. Forget for a second that few even really care about the AAA Mixed Tag belts anyway, because there's a bigger problem: Ruby's All Elite career is on f*cking life support despite her popularity and the fact she picked up a win here.

If Tony wanted to get to that mixed title bout anyway, then why not just give Soho/Ortiz the win last week? It's so lazy to pen effectively the same match week-after-week, tie up the scores at 1-1 then book the "rubber" bout for pay-per-view.

Sorry, but that only works when the title(s) and/or story is actually engaging.
