4 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night’s WWE Backstage (Nov 13)

Burying the lede is a term used in journalism to describe editorial bias.

In diminishing the Lana soap opera, “FOX” sought to make it less of a deal. It’s just some midcard fluff they can plaster spin-words like “divisive” and “polarising” over, and not, say, yet another dire micro example of the institutional rot and WWE’s chronic inability to build talent.

Paige at least had the balls to bury it. She is “not into it”. Joe had a “hard time” wondering who gets over. Booker wished it would go away. Renee Young meanwhile almost blamed the fans—she’s been spending too much time with Corey Graves, clearly—by wondering aloud why this Attitude Era-adjacent plot isn’t working for a set of fans who mourn the ‘90s daily.

Because it isn’t over and it’s performed terribly?

In the same breath, she asked if Lana’s characterisation was a step back for the Women’s Evolution. What?

This was intended as candid, wide-ranging discussion, but came off too much like “C’mon, guys, what’s your problem?”
