3. Inoffensive Fun

Mixed tag matches rarely are going to crack anyone’s top ten list at year’s end, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be good, simple, clean fun.

The LWO versus American Made tag worked well, in part because both men in the match – Rey Mysterio and Chad Gable – are of a certain stature and were willing to play along with the beats of the contest. Ivy Nile stomped Rey along with Gable at one point. Gable tried to prevent a Zelina Vega tag by grabbing her leg… and then ate an enziguri. And then Rey alley-ooped Vega so she could hit a Frankensteiner on Gable to set up the finishing sequence.

The interesting development came afterward when the Creed Brothers jumped into the ring to check on Gable, who immediately yelled that he wasn’t a loser and slapped Julius while Brutus laughed, the two started shoving each other and Gable pumped them both up about the future.

If this finally gets American Made off the ground – possibly by beating the LWO in tag team action – then that would be a welcome development. The post-match angle felt tacked-on, unless they actually follow through and have a motivated Creeds start mowing through the tag division.
