This 'main event talking' skit was in the 'Downs' section by default before it happened. Your writer didn't think for a second that anything noteworthy would come of it. An inspired and fired up John Cena showed what's possible when someone super-skilled on the mic dresses down a live crowd and shuts down any attempts at trolling what he's trying to do.

Cena addressed the fans chanting for R-Truth by shouting: “You can’t handle the truth” like he was doing his best Jack Nicholson. Then, John called the crowd “hypocrites”, “liars” and “losers”, and he put over Logan Paul as a future World Heavyweight Champion strong. To close things out, the pair destroyed both Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso then posed with the belts as cameras faded to black.

No, the tag-team match at MITB still isn’t all that exciting, but you’ve got to hand it to Cena here. His intensity compensated for WWE’s humdrum booking, and his work on the mic elevated what could’ve easily been a nothing segment into one well-worth seeing if you like heated audiences pelting performers with hate. Fittingly, JC was able to rise above that as Logan wore a goofy grin on his face.

There is some truth to what Cena is saying, and everybody knows it. WWE will likely make Paul a World Champ at some stage in the future. To recap, this was a potentially-lame 'go home' segment that John Cena turned into gold. If only some of the booking for his retirement tour wasn't so weak overall, eh?
