4 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 29)

1. Old Wounds Reopen

Sheamus Daniel Bryan

Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan was a damn fine main event.

This pair could work together all night long and it probably wouldn't get boring. They've always had great chemistry, and they haven't lost a step despite it now being a whopping eight years since they were opening WrestleMania XXVIII with a surprise squash and making up for it weeks later at Extreme Rules 2012.

Bryan was the right pick to win the latest chapter in this rivalry. Daniel vs. AJ Styles was the final most fans were hoping for when this IC Title tournament kicked off, and now everyone gets their wish at Backlash; that match will be a credit to the pay-per-view's card, and could actually end up being match of the night.

SmackDown's closing stretch was a fine piece of business all round. Bryan got to win with his finish, Sheamus had some nice moments of his own mid-match, and Jeff Hardy returned from the police station to bite back at someone trying to tear him down.

Good work.
