4 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (June 6)

1. How To Write Off Cody

Seth Rollins Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes would have had you believe that he was going to be ready to come back in time for Money in the Bank (and really, maybe we shouldn’t be doubting him at this point) during his show-opening promo, but Seth Rollins had other plans.

Rhodes took a hero’s victory lap on Raw, basking in the much-deserved cheers and respect before hinting that if he can go in four weeks at Money in the Bank, he’ll climb the ladder, grab the briefcase and cash it in to become champion.

Cue Rollins, who came out very subdued and said Cody had earned his respect. He invoked Dusty Rhodes’ name, shook Cody’s hand and left. Rhodes hung out for a minute before leaving himself, only to be jumped by a sledgehammer-wielding Rollins, who further injured the American Nightmare.

There’s no word if this (in storyline) aggravated the torn pec, but it was a great move to cement Rollins as a villain, and also make him the reason Rhodes is out longer than he had hoped. Good stuff all around.
