4 Ups & 9 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 2)

8. They Really Did It

Last week, this column joked about WWE booking a guitar-on-a-pole match as if Jeff Jarrett was writing Raw. And then it happened.

Elias and Jeff Hardy battled to grab a guitar and smash it across the other’s back. As you would expect with a match where the goal is to simply climb the turnbuckle to retrieve an item from a pole, the action was underwhelming. That’s a typical problem with these matches: unlike a ladder match, where the climb is a bit of a distance and you have to set up a ladder, the turnbuckle is already there and is just three short steps.

Hardy reversed a powerbomb attempt with a hurricanrana, nailed a Twist of Fate and retrieved the guitar to deliver a shot and hopefully end this feud. Yawn.
