4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night’s WWE NXT (June 10)

Ups...

4. Mojo's Got His Mojo Back

Mojo Rawley looks like he'd be a nightmare at parties, but it's good to see him back in the ring, after taking a long time away from televised action to nurse a shoulder injury. For those who don't know, or have forgotten, Mojo's gimmick is that he 'stays hyped', i.e. he's super amped up all of the time, because of positivity or something. It's basically like the Ultimate Warrior's entrance, but it lasts for an entire match. Does that sound exhausting to you, because it really is. It's a dumb hook, but it led Rawley to a spate of victories when he first started out. The problem is, it's as tiring to watch as it is to perform. Rawley came across more like a sugar-rushing child than a force to be reckoned with. So he's back now, and he's still hyped, but NXT might have found the perfect vehicle for him: a tag-team partnership with Zack Ryder. Ryder's got a similar 'happy doofus' persona, and there's more than enough fan goodwill for the Long Island Iced Z for it to rub off on Rawley. Also, putting the Hype Machine on the ring apron for a stretch of a match makes his gimmick more bearable and, after all, being massively hyped is what hot tags are made for. Add to that a nifty double-team variation on the Rough Ryder, and NXT have a tag-team that could really go places.
