4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 23)

1. Rollins And Cesaro Deliver A Great Main Event Match

The strength of Smackdown is in the quality matches that the show provides once in a while. The match went about 14 minutes with the WWE Champion Rollins getting the pinfall win with a Pedigree over a tough challenger in Cesaro.

It was an even match with a lot of nearfalls that the crowd was really into, especially as they got into the latter stages. It actually looked like Cesaro was going to win when Rollins was desperately trying to hang on while he was in the Sharpshooter and then the Crossface.

This was also the first time in four weeks that there was a pinfall or submission in the main event. It wasn't that clean because Rollins did an eye poke while the ref was moving the WWE Title out of the ring, but it was one of those cheap heel moves that's okay because it looked cool.

It's great to see Cesaro in the main event match on both Raw and Smackdown. Fans have wanted to see him in a bigger role for the past year. He's finally getting that chance and he'll likely make the most of it.

As for Rollins, he needed a win like that. It wasn't totally clean, but at least he was able to get a pin and prove that he's a worthy champion as well.
