4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 4)

2. Kane Causes DQ Finish And Adds Himself To Money In The Bank

With all due respect to Kane, nobody is really going to care if he is or isn't in the Money in the Bank contract ladder match on June 14. The fact that they would end a main event match with a disqualification finish only to announce himself as the seventh and final man in the MITB does not feel like a big deal or a good way to end the show. When the angle happened, the reaction of this viewer was a shoulder shrug and a "that's it?" because it's not like Kane is some big name or main event level performer. He's a guy that loses nearly every match he's in while also getting beat up on a regular basis. Not to mention that he's the oldest active member of the WWE roster that is on television far too often. It's easy to understand why WWE management likes him since he's a loyal employee that has worked there for 20 years. However, it's a bad sign when he's one of your top heels in the Money in the Bank match because there is nobody watching this show that is anticipating anything good from Kane in that match. The story reason for him in MITB is to try to prevent Roman Reigns from winning in the match. Logically speaking, they could just take Reigns out of the match instead of allowing him to compete after he won three matches on Raw. This is WWE, though. Logic is optional even though it should always apply. This felt like a midcard angle, not some main event finish to a TV show.
