4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Mar 12)

UPS...

4. Daniel Bryan Really Wants The IC Title

It had been expected for weeks, but on Smackdown it became official. Daniel Bryan will be in the Intercontinental Title Ladder Match at WrestleMania. Is it a step down for a guy that main evented WrestleMania one year earlier? Yes it is, but that doesn't mean it has to be a terrible thing. Bryan opened Smackdown with a promo talking about his heroes like Mr. Perfect, Ricky Steamboat, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Randy Savage. He noted that they were Intercontinental Champions that were more exciting than anything going in the Heavyweight division. That's a fair statement. Bryan also added that the only title that he hasn't won in WWE is the Intercontinental Championship. The fan were supportive of the announcement by Bryan. In predictable fashion, Bryan's promo led to the other IC Title competitors coming out to talk about how they are going to leave WrestleMania with the IC Title. That led to the predictable tag match. Bryan's promo to start it off set them off on the right path and that's what matters. My personal feeling is that WWE is making a mistake by not putting Bryan in a high profile singles match, but at least he's probably going to be in the best match.
