5 Active Wrestlers We Could HONESTLY Call The Greatest Of All Time

4. Hiroshi Tanahashi

Bryan Danielson
NJPW

It would have been great to be able to include The Champ himself, John Cena, on this list, as he's one of the biggest stars from the last few decades. But his position as a semi-retired, part-time wrestler makes that impossible. Still, you need only look to the land of the rising sun to see someone just as influential and popular, who still wrestles a full schedule.

There are plenty of people around the globe who would call New Japan Pro Wrestling the best promotion in the world, and Tanahashi has helped carry that company on his back since the early 2000s.

The promotion was in dire need of a star in that period, and Tanahashi stood up and claimed the mantle as Ace of the company. His record speaks for itself, as he's an eight-time World Heavyweight Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion, and has won essentially every other accolade NJPW has to offer.

Remarkably, despite being such a veteran star, he's still a fantastic worker, putting on wrestling clinics full of showmanship and star power to this day. As the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, he remains relevant and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Thanks to all of those credentials, how can you deny his placement here?
