5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (July 25)

1. Winner: Finn Balor

Finn Balor Raw

There could only be one logical winner here. Finn Balor made a huge statement on his Raw debut: it’s a night that will go down as one of the greatest first impressions in WWE history, and the former NXT Champion has already been set-up as a credible main event threat on Monday nights.

It was clear that WWE had huge plans for Balor when he was drafted fifth overall last week. His NXT call-up was long overdue: the pick appeared to be an acknowledgement of this, and a promise of future glory. It set immediate high hopes among the WWE Universe, but nobody could’ve anticipated Balor’s first night on Raw turning out quite like this.

After succeeding in the fatal four-way, Balor scored a clear victory over Roman Reigns in the night’s main event. He’ll go on to face Rollins for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, and while Balor will walk-in as an underdog, he has every opportunity to scoop championship gold on his very first month as a main roster participant.

WWE made Finn Balor a star in less than three hours. For a company that’s continually struggled to get guys over and replenish its main event with suitable wrestlers, that’s no mean feat. Rollins vs. Balor is the fresh match-up that WWE needed to make going into SummerSlam, and given their respective in-ring abilities, both men will surely tear the house down.
