5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (Oct 24)

3. Winners: Sheamus & Cesaro

As consistent as The New Day are, Sheamus and Cesaro are the Raw tag scene’s real highlights at the moment. Their singles feud ended disappointingly, but their strange bedfellows story is really taking shape, and the duo are making gradual progress as a functional tag team. They defeated the reigning champions last night, and momentum is firmly on their side ahead of HIAC’s title match.

Sheamus and Cesaro aren’t best friends all of a sudden, though. They still have their odd moments of disagreement, and it’ll be a while before they can match a team like The New Day for chemistry. They had a gruelling singles rivalry, and there are still plenty of hurdles to overcome, but they’re both good enough to make it work, even if the title win doesn’t come on Sunday.

It’s a rare example of Raw’s writers showing patience with their storytelling. Rather than cutting straight to the chase, WWE have shown incremental improvements in the Sheamus/Cesaro team on a weekly basis, and it’s paying dividends. They’ve already got the in-ring chops, and when they learn how to work as a tag team, they’ll be a frightening prospect for any opposition.
