5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (Oct 24)
4. Winner: Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens, reigning WWE Universal Champion, was left standing tall as Raw went off the air. He laid Seth Rollins out with an apron powerbomb shortly after their Triple Threat match had concluded, and ensured all the attention is now on him heading into Hell In A Cell. Furthermore, he was his usual entertaining self in the opening segment, and in his interview with Tom Phillips, KO successfully sold the danger of HIAC, sending Rollins a chilling warning ahead of their showdown: “we’re both going to bell, but I’m the only one coming back.”
Unfortunately, his post-match actions are greatly diminished by what happened earlier. Yes, he beat Rollins up, but this came moments after he and Jericho had been simultaneously pinned by The Architect. Perhaps his viciousness serves Owens well ahead of HIAC, but he just took a clean loss to his title challenger, and that prevents him from being Raw’s biggest winner.
Owens’ title run has been marred by confusing booking, and last night’s match was the latest in a long string of odd decisions. He’ll wrestle Rollins at the weekend, but Triple H’s spectre will once again dominate, and there’s every chance that Seth will once again lose through shenanigans. Sadly, WWE have done a terrible job in presenting their champion strongly in the ring, but at least he got to show some fight last night.
