5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE SmackDown Live (Aug 2)

5. Winner: Eva Marie

Eva Marie Injury
WWE

Eva Marie might be by consensus the worst wrestler in WWE. Aside from maybe Braun Strowman, it’s hard to think of a worker who attracts the same level of pure hatred from WWE fans, and while the criticism can be unnecessarily strong, it’s not without reason. Eva is just as clumsy in the ring as she is on the microphone, and if she’s not tripping over her own boots, she’s fumbling her words.

She’s also one of the most over female wrestlers in the company. Fans absolutely loathe the sight of her, and WWE have done an excellent job of playing-up to that in NXT, and now on SmackDown. The company knows exactly what they’re doing with All Red Everything, and their endless trolling of the fans with hooks like her over-the-top voiceover ring entrance have left the former fitness model in the best possible position.

Last night, Eva Marie made her way to the ring for a match with Becky Lynch, and promptly faked an injury to see the match called-off. It was a fantastic direction for WWE’s ultimate troll character, and while Eva will never rival Becky Lynch in the ring, but she can be a major villain in the division if she keeps moving forward like this. 10-15 minute matches with Lynch and co. aren’t her forté: Eva’s best use is through short, effective switch-ups, and if they continue, she’ll be just as despised on SD as she was in NXT.
