8. Failure - The Wrong Champions

Sometimes, a failure can be a noble one. Look at All Elite Wrestling over the past month, they tried something a little unique with regards to the World Championship, and taking the behind-the-scenes meltdown, it didn't really work.

The same could be said, maybe not on the same scale, at the climax of the tournament to crown new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.

The titles, vacated when Sasha Banks and Naomi dumped them on Johnny Ace's desk and walked out of the company, looked set to be won by the villainous duo of Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. As part of Bayley's 'Damage CTRL' stable, the tandem needed the win not just to announce themselves fully on the main roster, but also because the stable already felt a little flat.

Some championship gold would have helped, but it felt like Triple H threw a curveball for the sake of it.

It was a noble failure to give the ball to Raquel Rodriguez and Aaliyah, but has anyone come out of this result in a stronger position? Sure, they have hot-shotted the belts quickly over to Damage CTRL, but not one of the foursome feels like they have been elevated by it. Kai and SKY looked daft, losing on essentially a banana skin slip and the champions looked more opportunistic than worthy.

A serious course correction is needed, especially as the lack of division will surely hinder any progress the King of Kings is looking to make.
