WWE has already been pretty forward as it pertains to signing free agents in recent years, not wanting them to show up anywhere else, even if they have little to no plans of utilising them themselves. The emergence of AEW will surely amplify this tenfold.

WWE can hoover up talent as soon as their contracts up with Impact, ROH, NJPW, MLW or any other promotion out there, preventing them from becoming the latest AEW acquisitions . They do have three televised brands to fill now after all.

While this could see fresh faced talent join WWE's ranks, they could even re-sign former athletes who are currently languishing in wrestling purgatory. There was even a rumour of Enzo and Cass returning to the company to feature once again on NXT, though it was quickly shot down by Triple H. That doesn't mean other ex-stars will be ruled out as swiftly mind you, and we could see anyone from Ryback to Wade Barrett enter the squared circle on Raw or SmackDown once again.

Perhaps the most shocking signing of all would be CM Punk, who recently stated at a Starcast convention that he would be open to talks with 'The Game' or the chairman himself. A lot of hopeful fans were anticipating the arrival of the star for AEW at their All Out PPV in Chicago. Obviously, that never happened, and if 'Punk was to return to WWE, let alone agree to work Wednesdays, it could be the death nail for AEW.
