4. Positive: Fewer Matches Means Longer Matches
At the time of writing, there are currently only five matches announced for Money in the Bank, plus a bonus tag match on the pre-show.
It could be tempting to look at this as a bad thing, and earlier we touched upon how the company hasn’t done a great job of mobilising the mid-card for the show. But the flipside of featuring fewer matches on the card is that it should mean they all get a decent amount of time.
The Money in the Bank ladder matches will likely get the longest, which again means that we’ll not only see plenty of spots but there’ll be sufficient of time for those aforementioned subplots to play out. Then looking at the WWE and SmackDown Women’s title bouts, in Jinder Mahal and Lana we’ve got two relatively unproven names who could do with putting in big performances to help get them over as credible stars. Let's just hope they can both rise to the occasion.
And if nothing else, fewer matches at least means the show’s unlikely to run into the laborious three-hour-plus territory…
