5 Positives And 5 Negatives Heading Into NXT TakeOver: Toronto
5. Positive — Just Five Matches On The Card
Then again, the benefit of not featuring Almas on the card is that we have fewer matches scheduled for the show (again, at the time of writing) so presumably they’ll all be afforded a decent amount of time.
Naturally the two-out-of-three falls match will go the distance, as will the NXT Championship bout. But the relatively condensed card means that the Women’s Championship clash, the Dusty Classic final, and the Dillinger vs. Roode grudge match each look set to be given the time that they deserve.
In the past we tend to have seen five or six matches on each NXT show, with the five-show cards featuring some absolute classics such as Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn at Takeover: Dallas in April, or the cage match between Samoa Joe and Finn Bálor at Takevoer: The End in June.
That doesn’t mean that the six-card shows have been bad necessarily, but personally I feel like five matches might be the optimum length for a two-hour show like TakeOver. Although all of this reeks of famous last words: watch them go and add a sixth match now and ruin my entire argument...
