5 Promotions That Could Sign Cris Cyborg
3. Invicta Fighting Championship
Prior to signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Cyborg fought for Invicta FC and even captured the promotions featherweight title.
Invicta is a US-based all-female promotion that holds the majority of their events in Kansas City, Kansas. The organization is run by promoter and founder Shannon Knapp.
Knapp and Cyborg have had a good working relationship in the past, and the former UFC champ would be welcomed back to Invicta with open arms. Moreover, unlike most other MMA promotions, Invicta already has an established featherweight division. If Cyborg doesn't want to wait around for an organization to build a division around her and wants to work with a promoter she's comfortable with, than Invicta is an interesting option.
The problem is that Cyborg is a bigger star now than she was the last time she fought for Knapp and company, back in January of 2016. Simply put, as relatively small, primarily regional promotion, Invicta probably can't afford the Brazilian knockout artist at this point in her career. It also seems like a step backward for one of the sport's biggest stars.
While Invicta checks enough boxes to be worth mentioning, it would be surprising to see Cyborg wind up back in Kansas, given the other options available.
