5 Promotions That Could Sign Cris Cyborg
2. The Profesional Fighters League (PFL)
One of the more likely landing spots for Cyborg is the Profesional Fighters League.
The PFL promotes MMA tournaments in which the winner receives one million dollars. While they don't have a women's featherweight (145) division, the organization does have a lightweight (155) division. Like many fighters, Cyborg has struggled with weight cuts in the past, so a move to lightweight would make sense — especially as she enters the latter portion of her career.
Moreover, the promotion also has one of the fastest rising stars in women's MMA, in former Olympic judo gold medalist, Kayla Harrison. Harrison is an undefeated lightweight prospect (5-0) who was Ronda Rousey's teammate during her Olympic days. Harrison versus Cyborg would be one of the biggest fights in women's MMA, involving fighters who aren't currently under contract with the UFC.
The Profesional Fighters League's events are broadcast on ESPN, so Cyborg would continue to get plenty of mainstream exposure. The organization would probably have to offer her a good deal of guaranteed money to go with her potential tournament winnings, but Cyborg singing with the PFL is a very real possibility.
