5 Reasons AEW Should Sign Cesaro AEW (& 5 Reasons They Shouldn’t)
8. Reason he shouldn’t: The novelty of new signings is wearing off
Remember when Tony Khan signed Tony Nese? Whatever happened to that guy? What about when Jay Lethal arrived to challenge Sammy Guevara for his TNT title? Now, he’s just part of the furniture. Perhaps a chair in the spare room that you rarely use.
The arrival of CM Punk was the most exciting moment of the year and the thrill had barely diminished when Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole arrived at All Out 2021. A shocking debut is one of pro wrestling’s biggest thrills but some things are better in small doses. Lately, it feels like there’s a new guy rocking up in AEW every week.
It’s not just that not every name is as big as Punk, it’s the sheer quantity and frequency that is making all these new arrivals feel ordinary. Cesaro would be a bigger than average get for the Tony Khan helmed promotion but even so, an arrival that should feel surprising feels inevitable.
It’s not Cesaro’s fault but the idea of him signing to AEW would be more enticing if Tony Khan had been a bit pickier in the last twelve months.
