5 Reasons Kevin Owens Must Win The WWE Intercontinental Title

3. He Is A Prizefighter

One consistent (and refreshing) element of Owens' character since his introduction to NXT and the main roster has been his insistence on the importance of fighting for prizes, and saving altercations for when something is on the line. It's strange how this can come to be a unique characteristic in professional wrestling, but those are the times we live in.

Purely by being a prizefighter in possession of a prize, Owens makes the title feel important. Rather than an IC title feud over having a picture on Vince McMahon's wall, the squabble becomes about possession of the title itself. I do mean winning it as well, not stealing it a la the WrestleMania feud this year.

Kevin Owens is a prizefighter, and it is time to treat the Intercontinental belt like a coveted prize once again.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
