5 Things AEW Must Steal From WCW (And 5 It Shouldn’t!)

4. Yes: Nitro’s 'Anything Can Happen' Style

Some will glance at the above image and start getting PTRD (Post-Traumatic Russo Disorder). No, his reign in charge of WCW creative was hardly sparkling, but Nitro did carry on that 'anything can happen here' style originally drummed up by Eric Bischoff in 1995. Russo married that with his car crash approach to TV.

Tony Khan can learn from the evils of that, but he can also jot down some handy notes when watching WCW's final year too. There was always something newsworthy going on. No, it wasn't always good, but Nitro did have a cliffhanger feel that at least tried to keep people coming back for more.

Meanwhile, Dynamite has become less and less of a must-see pro wrestling appointment for some fans. That's something AEW should look to avoid when Collision launches, because they don't want to see the ratings dwindle on Saturdays as well as Wednesdays.

AEW's weekly TV could do with a shot in the arm again.
