5. Mustn’t - Book Him Into A Corner
… please, please keep him away from the likes of Goldberg, Rollins, and Reigns. Nothing took the shine off The Fiend last time around more than bad choice of opponents - or, more to the point, opponents who Wyatt couldn’t reasonably beat.
We all remember the Seth Rollins debacle - it’s hard to forget it - but the intention there was to pit WWE’s number one babyface against its shiny new monster. They didn’t want Rollins to get steamrollered, but neither should he have toppled Wyatt at that time. The result? A Hell In A Cell DQ and an instantly forgettable Saudi plunder match.
The Goldberg clash was a bigger disaster still, with rumours continuing to abound that Bill threw his weight around, demanding to go over Bray in a truly terrible match. By the summer, Wyatt was losing matches to Braun Strowman in the latter’s unfortunate Universal Championship run, and once Roman Reigns returned, that was pretty much it for The Fiend at the top of the card.
It’s as simple as picking opponents who can take a loss, but whose worth actually helps Bray - Daniel Bryan, for example, during The Fiend’s early days. They’ve just got to find the balance. And on that note…
