The last time Sami Zayn had a high-stakes match in Montreal with world title implications, he fell short in his quest. Saturday night was a different story.

Zayn pulled off the win in the main event, defeating Randy Orton, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship at Royal Rumble next weekend. The match itself was perfectly fine, with Sami being at the center of nearly everything as the other three men revolved around him. Critical moments seemed to somehow always involve Zayn either delivering offense or absorbing attacks.

The match theoretically had three babyfaces, but Sami was the only one the Montreal faithful were truly behind. They were happy to cheer Orton when he dropped Trick on the announce desk, but when he did it to Zayn, they were less than pleased. Sami nearly got put away when Orton countered a Helluva Kick with an RKO. Trick tried to steal the pin, but Priest saved.

That chaotic nature of a four-way match continued to pop up throughout the contest, right into the finish, which saw Sami miss a Helluva Kick on Priest, who dropped Zayn with a Razor’s Edge. Damian dispatched Trick on the apron, but he turned right around into a Helluva for the pin.

Overall, this was a fun, solid match that sent the fans home happy and set Sami Zayn up for another spotlight moment at Royal Rumble.
