5 Ups & 1 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Mar 7)

3. The Right Contender

Aleister Black

Though the match itself was underwhelming, Aleister Black is the right choice to face NXT Champion Andrade 'Cien' Almas at TakeOver: New Orleans. Killian Dain is great, but he doesn't have anywhere near the same level of star power. He, like Black, is ready for the main roster, but shouldn't be headlining TakeOver shows, despite his obvious talents.

Black is the total package. Yes, the Dain match wasn't perfect, but his consistency between the ropes has improved leaps and bounds in WWE developmental. Though always a great tag wrestler, he had a tendency to lay the odd egg in one-on-one situations on the indies. He'll no doubt deliver a strong performance against Almas at TakeOver, though it'd take a Herculean effort to match the former La Sombra's five-star showing with Johnny Gargano.

His aura, presence, and mystique are what really set Black apart. He carries himself like the biggest star in the world. The character is unique, and when his music hits, the building's entire mood shifts. That's rare, and provided WWE offer him the right amount of protection, there's no reason he can't become a massive star on the main roster someday.
