5 Ups & 1 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Mar 7)

4. An Effective Set-Up

If last night's interactions are anything to go by, we're heading towards Adam Cole vs. Pete Dunne for the United Kingdom Championship, and a potential face turn for the popular 'Bruiserweight.'

After a civil face-to-face with former contender Roderick Strong, Dunne was accosted by the Undisputed Era. Cole dissed Strong, and this led to Pete stepping in on his last opponent's behalf, rightly pointing out that 'The Panama City Playboy' hasn't won gold since walking into Full Sail University, thus sowing the seeds for a future match.

WWE are heading down a smart path here. Dunne is an objectively excellent heel, but he already draws great crowd reactions, so giving him a babyface run against someone as slimy as the Undisputed Era's leader makes sense. Cole, meanwhile, hasn't been given a chance to show what he can do in big singles bouts yet. We know he's charismatic, and his character is strong, but how will he fare without plunder or a fancy stipulation to hide behind? We'll find out when he wrestles Dunne next week.
