5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (27 Dec - Results & Review)

4. A Decent Tag With Some Sub-Story

Street Profits Los Garza

It'd be easy to brush this match off as a largely fruitless exercise given that Pretty Deadly proved to be lying through their teeth about Los Garza ambushing The Street Profits a few weeks back. Apollo Crews popped up (a bit too late for Corey Graves!) to reveal that it wasn't Angel and Berto at all. However, you've got to appreciate Triple H at least trying to give otherwise cold bouts like this one some purpose and direction.

The Profits vs. Los Garza had some cool highs, and it’s nice to see Angel and Humberto on TV in a proper match too. They’re criminally underused - the whole Legado del Fantasma reboot faction is. Creative giving the match some context by having PD fib gave Nick Aldis an excuse to book it too. Obviously, this doesn't change the fact that Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins need freshened up, because they’ve been spinning wheels big time for too long, but they’re a tidy team in matches like this and the added story was appreciated.

Montez and Angelo have some fire to them during comeback spots, and a special mention must go to B-FAB for slotting in neatly alongside the pair. That was never guaranteed once the would-be group with Bobby Lashley went south and he left the promotion, but the trio salvaged things and started to do their own thing.

Now, all because of two rapid fire backstage skits, WWE has follow up matches like Profits vs. Pretty Deadly and Profits vs. DIY on their hands. Profits vs. Motor City Machine Guns is possible too. There are loads of moving parts in the tag division, which is great.
