5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 7)
3. Roman Reigns Sucks Everyone In
Roman Reigns was clearly bluffing when he squeezed out a single tear, got down on his knees and borderline passed the 'Tribal Chief' torch to Jey Uso. It was the champ's latest exercise in master manipulation, but it worked a treat. Seeing him sucker in The Usos and use family as a means for sh*thousery = ace.
That low blow was also (in Reigns' mind) payback for what happened at Money In The Bank. Sure, Roman actually dinged Jey in the balls years ago first, but he wouldn't care about that sort of thing. The best heels feel entirely justified by their own bullsh*t, and Roman is a sensational villain.
This Bloodline stuff has been rife with terrific storytelling.
Jey wore a look of utter confusion as he weighed up everything happening in front of him during the opening segment. He wasn't sure if Roman was being sincere and finally seeing sense. By the time he realised it was a ruse, it was too late.
