5 Ups & 3 Downs For AEW Collision (April 20 - Results & Review)
4. Fine From Powerhouse
Powerhouse Hobbs vs. CJ Esparza was fine for what it needed to be - a dominant Hobbs victory in barely one minute - but the bigger point here was to give Don Callis mic time to a) hype Hobbs vs. Jon Moxley, b) put over Hobbs as a beast, and c) let fans know that Mox's IWGP Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when the two clash on Wednesday.
Powerhouse decimated Esparza, getting the win with the Torture Rack and giving the former Team Taz fella a quick win to warm him up ahead of the Moxley match. It's nearly two months since Hobbs' last televised win - that'd be the Sammy Guevara No DQ bout on Collision back in February - so a win was certainly needed for him here.
Of course, there's no chance of Powerhouse Hobbs dethroning Jox Moxley on next week's Dynamite, but this squash match at least gave fans a reminder of the power - no pun intended - of Hobbs.
