5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (July 29)

4. Lee Moriarty’s Performance

Lee Moriarty has been on a tear for weeks now - literally everything he's been doing, from subtle heel nuances to matches vs. Dante Martin, has been 100x more interesting than standing silently in the background during Matt Sydal promos.

It's obvious that AEW don't trust Lee to do his own talking quite yet, and that's fine. Here's the deal though: Stokely Hathaway is a much better manager for Moriarty than Sydal (who isn't really a mouthpiece himself), and that's why this gets an 'Up'. Or, it's part of the reason at least.

Moriarty vs. Sydal was also a tidy little match.

Nobody can criticise Matt's in-ring work when he's on his game. The way he sneakily protected Lee by making sure 90% of the match was about him worked, and so did Moriarty grabbing Stokely's business card afterwards.

Bright days ahead.
