5 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 8)

1. Miz Steals The Show... Again

Two nights removed from playing a key role in what was comfortably Backlash's best match, The Miz was back at it again last night, stealing SmackDown with a typically great showing against United States Champion Jeff Hardy.

"Underrated" is a term that shouldn't be applied to Miz anymore. He has been one of WWE's best all-round performers for years, and only someone who's had their head buried in sand since 2010 would deny it. Here, he was in typically excellent form, cutting Hardy off with classic heel tactics and outright d***ishness whenever he looked like building momentum, then eventually stealing the victory with a slick counter.

Hardy looked to have it wrapped up with the Twist Of Fate and Swanton Bomb, but 'The A-Lister' used his opponent's momentum against him. He cradled Jeff into a pinfall off the Swanton, the referee counted 1-2-3, and that was that.

The US Title wasn't on the line, but Miz could conceivably use this victory to make a case for a future shot. Nonetheless, he moves into the Money In The Bank ladder match, and would make a great victor. The briefcase was made for weaselly heels like him, and as one of WWE's MVP's, he deserves the rub.
