5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2024
3. Faces, Fatu Put In The Work
Saturday’s main event promised chaos without ever advertising it, and the match certainly delivered.
Unfortunately, much of the chaos hid the basic heel work of most of the new Bloodline, but thankfully, the babyface team of Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton worked hard to have the villains be taken seriously as threats. The opening moments, with Cody, KO, and Orton teeing off on Tama Tonga, were great fun, which ended the minute Jacob Fatu entered the match.
Fatu deserves praise for his first WWE match, stepping right into a main event and creating an aura about himself, shrugging off a draping DDT and maximizing all his opportunities during the contest. He and Owens could have a really special match if given the opportunity. The Samoan Werewolf could be the saving grace for the new Bloodline, as he adds an air of unpredictability and danger to the group that otherwise doesn’t truly exist.
Despite the issues raised earlier, this match still overall was a success – at least on paper – in establishing that Solo Sikoa and company are a threat to WWE’s top stars, including the World Champion. We shall see how this plays out in the weeks ahead, and whether fans fully buy-in.
