5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (2 May - Results & Review)

2. Women’s Division = Ultra Competitive

Nia Jax Naomi Jade Cargill

Firstly, that was a fairly rough promo/brawl segment involving Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Naomi and then Jade Cargill, but their main event tag bout was good clean fun and it represented yet another pleasant surprise package for this week's show. Cargill is coming on leaps and bounds in-ring, and the more she tangles with workers with Naomi the better.

Next up for Jade: Nia in a singles next week to determine Tiffany's new contender. The likely outcome of that is a screwy finish though, because Naomi is firmly in the mix for gold too. She was the one holding Stratton's belt aloft right at the end of Friday's SmackDown, which strongly implies that there's a multi-woman match coming your way at Backlash.

That's fine in this instance, because at least the division looks really competitive and has some strong characters pinning it down. Tiffany is riding high after vanquishing Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania, Jax has returned with vengeance on her mind after Stratton cashed in Money In The Bank to scoop her glory, Jade will only get better the more reps she gets, and Naomi has a dangerous vibe as a heel.

Some out there might think it's way too soon for Tiffy's reign to end, but there are sure worse ideas creatively than going all the way with Naomi as a reckless villain who'll stop at nothing to achieve her own selfish goals after years of looking out for others. Put it like this: WWE must book Stratton vs. Naomi in a series of one on one matches this year.

Tidy, compact and well-worked main event here.
