5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (25 Oct - Results & Review)

1. It Was All For Nothing?

LA Knight Andrade Carmelo Hayes

Originally, WWE mapped out a five match series between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes that earned rave reviews. Then, they extended that just so they could showcase more of the blistering action both guys had been serving up. Then, on this week's show, special ref LA Knight wrecked "Game 7" and Nick Aldis put him a three-way against both contenders.

Well, that's a...hollow and unsatisfying end to biz between Andrade and Hayes. If you're going to use a real sports "Game 7" style, then you need a definitive winner. Just saying. Both teams can't share the Stanley Cup.

This feud has been purring away since July, but WWE cowered away from picking a decisive winner and went with a Triple Threat for Crown Jewel instead. Honestly? Zero issues with Knight getting involved or putting a fresh wrinkle on the series as ref, but now all six of the prior bouts mean absolutely nothing. They didn't need to happen.

That's a bit crap. There's been no payoff for fans who started to love what Andrade and Carmelo had been doing. They got ultra competitive so one of them could earn a United States Title opportunity, but those efforts were all for nothing since both will be getting the reward anyway.
