3. MCMG And DIY Win Everyone Over
People tuning into SmackDown knew Motor City Machine Guns vs. DIY would be a winner, and it didn't disappoint. Hopefully, WWE understands the assignment and starts fleshing out some personalities for Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, because this honeymoon period won't last forever; wrestlers only thrive long-term in the E if they've got depth.
MCMG are off to a hot start, however. They're winning fans over with the strength of their matches too, which is important and a very good sign for their future as a key part of the tag division. Sabin and Shelley laced their win over Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa with some of the double team flurries they became known for years ago in TNA.
It went over well.
They won the match and became number one contenders to the tag straps just like that. It would've been super-easy for Triple H to book that moment and then sit on it until next week's show, but no - he didn't do that. It turns out taping two episodes of SmackDown back to back due to the Saudi trip created organic excitement...
