5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (26 Dec - Results & Review)
4. A Great Way To Help Joe Hendry Bed In
Say his name and he appears etc etc.
Reports say that Joe Hendry will be on SmackDown permanently going forwards. Beating The Miz in this ‘Miracle On 34th Street Fight’ deal was a fine way to get the ball rolling on that. Not the tiny balls rolling though. Leave that to Miz, apparently. You know what you’re going to get with these festive brawls. They’re purely played for laughs, but don’t always work. The good news is that this one did, and Miz did everything in his power to make Hendry look like a rising star on the main roster.
Akira Tozawa, Otis and R-Truth were involved in this too - Tozawa was an elf, Otis was Santa, and Truth was disguised as the bunny. There could be an odd couple tag-team thing in Hendry and Truth; this isn't the first time they've shown some chemistry onscreen together. All in, the match represented a fun and goofy way to kick off the final SmackDown of 2025.
Miz can take this sort of humiliation in stride, by the way, because he’s unflappable as a character. Dude could lose 500 matches in a row, then come out and talk about the time he beat John Cena at WrestleMania to get some heat back on himself. That's when you know someone's part of the furniture (which is meant as a compliment).
Hendry got strong crowd reactions for his singing and his power moves during the 'Street Fight'. His poise is top notch, his skills on the mic better than most, and now he can either go solo or work a comedy duo with Truth. Things are looking good for the hot Scot.
