5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (27 Sept - Results & Review)
2. Randy Questions Cody
Older fans couldn't ignore the obvious: Randy Orton questioning Cody Rhodes was a bit rich given his own history as a devious character. If you're willing to overlook that, as well as the way Randy tossed Cody to the side in Legacy years ago, then the actual interplay between both on/off friends/rivals was excellent.
Chef's kiss.
Orton wanted to know why Cody is content to trust Roman Reigns, then Kevin Owens came out to harp on that too. Unfortunately for him, KO didn't get to speak properly on the matter at hand, because The Bloodline interrupted and a main event tag match was set in stone. Things are motoring along nicely between Cody and Kevin, and now Randy is getting chippy too.
WWE has laid out an entire road to WrestleMania 41 here. They can have R-KO come under the babyface team banner for WarGames, then script heel turns for Kevin or Randy (or both!) longer term heading into the new year. This opening segment, whilst definitely revolving door, proved that.
