5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 5)

Ups...

5. That Strong Opener

Happy Corbin Ricochet

Who could've known going in that Happy Corbin and Ricochet would work match of the night on Smackers?! The little and large combo did - Corbin provided a solid base for Rico to do his high-flying thing, the ex-Intercontinental Champ looked great by buzzing around the place, and Pat McAfee soared on commentary.

Ricochet even picked up a win.

This was all really good stuff. Yeah, everyone's disappointed with that Corbs vs. McAfee match at SummerSlam (including Pat himself), but they deserve the chance to redeem themselves by working a 'Street Fight' gimmick come Clash At The Castle. Hopefully, that's the plan.

Although Rico will get most of the applause for this performance, the truth is that he was only half the equation. Corbin more than held his own, and this might be his best WWE match in a long-assed time. This was such a strong opener.
